My name is Niki Burnam and I am a fourth grade teacher at Scarborough Elementary in San Antonio, TX. I'm a Texas native, born and raised! I grew up in Keller and then moved to San Antonio for middle school and high school. I graduated from Trinity University with a bachelor's degree in the Humanities and my master's degree in teaching. After college I married my husband John and we moved up to Nashville, Tennessee for him to attend Vanderbilt for his graduate work. I taught 3rd grade and 4th grade in Tennessee before moving back here to San Antonio. This will be my second year at Scarborough and my fourth year of teaching. John and I live in downtown and love to take walks along the Riverwalk, visit the farmer's market, and spend time outdoors either camping or hiking. In my spare time I can be found reading a good book, gardening, cooking, or playing board games. I look forward to getting to know you and your family this year. It is going to be a fantastic year of learning together!
Hi, my name is Laurie Perez and I am a student teacher from the University of the Incarnate Word. I have the privilege of working alongside Mrs. Burnam during the fall as I complete my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with Minors in Reading Education and Special Education. I will walk the stage at graduation this December! I am married to my husband Daniel and we have two children, Alicia who is in the 8th grade and Daniel, Jr. who is in Pre-K. We live here in San Antonio and as a family we love to read, watch movies and stay busy with my daughter’s cheerleading events and son’s t-ball games. In my free time, I also enjoy taking pictures, photography is my second passion. I am excited to begin my career as a teacher and love that I am a part of this 4th grade class. I am grateful that I will have this opportunity to get to know each of you and your families as we learn together.
